Reviews
This review is for anyone who is looking to send their loved one to this facility. I can honestly say that if my family was not there to advocate for my grandmother and physically be there to see how the staff treats their patients, I don't know what would have happened to her. Thankfully, God literally sent an angel to watch over my grandmother through the caring, thoughtful and determined roommate she had. She personally saw the neglect that my grandmother received and contacted my mother every time she was not there. Please please fight for the care and well being of your loved ones. Do not assume there are in the best care at this facility. If you are African American or person of color fight even harder. We do not have a voice at this health center and I will be more than happy to personally speak to anyone who reads this about the MANY specific experiences that my family endured. The only reason I gave this facility two stars is because I am very grateful for the OT's and PT's that assisted my grandmother in her recovery. They did their job and for that I am truly thankful. Your work did not go unnoticed. With that said, although my family will be going through the process of making a formal complaint, below are some of the many issues we encountered. *Nurse Erika knew nothing about my grandmother and it showed. -The lack of unfamiliarity with her patients was despicable. Her only answer to our questions was "Ohhh I'm not sure mam'm." Nurse Erika, WHAT DO YOU KNOW? *Moving patients without letting them know or letting the family know. -(I have a specific story about this) They were MISTAKENLY going to move my grandmother the first time and the second time all we needed was an explanation and moving her would have been fine) *Response time to patients is unacceptable (despite short staff, this should still be managed.) -My mom had a whole conversation with a nurse and could barely focus due to the buzzing of all the patients requesting help. *Lack of knowledge and details on patients. -My grandmother is legally blind and I cannot tell you how many times the staff either had no idea she was or simply disregarded the fact. There was even a time where a nurse said "she's blind? Oh wow that makes so much sense now!" There was such a poor sense of consideration, compassion and preparation. This kind of behavior makes patients feel embarrassed and even more uncomfortable, anxious and uneasy about being in a facility that they of course are not accustomed to. On a SMALL positive note, there are two people I would like to thank and that is Assistant Director of Nursing Gilbert Lopez. He made an effort to place a sign above my grandmothers bed stating that she needed one-one feeding and to check on her every two hours for bathroom breaks. I would also like to thank the Head of CNA Karen Kar (KK). She adjusted the night shift crew that was unaware that my grandmother was roaming the hallways looking for the bathroom. Thank you both for taking accountability and action for the negligence presented. In conclusion, there are skilled nursing facilities being shut down due to a rise in deaths, neglect and poor management. I know of one off the top of my head in the Bay Area that has affected my family personally. There is no way I am going to let this place that looks good on the outside get away with the horrible experience we had inside. Again, I am more than willing to share and discuss this situation with anyone who actually read my review and wants more information.
