Review Summary
The following is an AI generated summary of the reviews of the community from across the web.
Reviews of the senior living facility present a mixed picture, with some highlighting positive experiences and others expressing significant concerns. A few reviewers praised the facility for its spaciousness, rehabilitation focus, and the care provided to their loved ones, noting that staff members were attentive and caring. Positive comments mentioned the facility's ability to provide good care, with one reviewer even describing their experience as "the best we could have hoped for," praising the therapy received.
However, several reviews raised serious issues regarding the facility's care quality and management. Concerns included billing disputes, poor communication from staff, neglect, and inadequate medical care. Some reviewers reported their loved ones experienced falls, were not bathed properly, and received poor food quality. The smell of urine and overall cleanliness were also points of criticism. One reviewer mentioned a lack of empathy and follow-up from social workers and admissions, suggesting a systemic issue with customer service.
There were also reports of personal belongings being lost or possibly stolen, and some staff members were described as dismissive and disrespectful. Despite these criticisms, there were acknowledgments of kind and caring staff members, though concerns about medication management and adherence to infection control guidelines were noted.
In summary, while some families had positive experiences, particularly with rehabilitation services, many expressed dissatisfaction with the level of care, communication, and overall management of the facility. Prospective clients may want to consider these mixed reviews carefully when making decisions about senior care.
Reviews
I was at Shelby for six months. Paralyzed from the neck down after a surgery. They were so nice to me. They checked on me often. Medication was done regularly. Food was exceptionally good. There was an ice cream shop off the dining room for patients and their guests - and it was free! I wasn't thrilled with the P/T and C/T but it was needed. As far as not getting a patient's clothing back from the wash, when a person is admitted, you have to take all their extra clothing to the main desk for name labels to be ironed on. If clothing goes into the daily wash without your labels, odds are you will not get it back. I would definitely recommend this place. Sometimes when you're really hurting, a person gets cranky and that's probably where the complaints were coming from. I hurt too, but can appreciate the great job the people at Shelby did for me.
