I really hate that I am have to do this, as I am a very private person. But I have tried for several months to resolve this issue. Before I get into it, I would like to preface this, by saying I am retired Social Worker. I worked for the Oklahoma Dept. of Human Services, as a case manager , in a Medicaid Advantage program. As such I am very knowledgeable of the ins and outs of both medicare and medicare. I am 70 years old and unfortunately became disabled just before I was vested in the the State's retirement plain. I have very low fixed income, and have both Medicare and Medicaid with extra help for my prescription drugs. Also even though I live with my daughter, in Claremore, I receive Nursing Home level of care through the State's Medicaid Advantage plain. As such I should never ever have any out of pocket medical expense. Back in January 2022, I came down with a Covid variant and spent a week and a half in the hospital I Claremore. But had to go into skilled nursing after discharge, as I was too weak to even get out of bed. Both my daughter and the Hospital's Social Worker, worked real hard to find a skilled nursing facility that had a open bed and that took both Medicare and Medicaid. While there were open beds a lot closer to us then Bartlesville, non took Medicaid. Finally the Social Worker got a hold of Ignite was told they not only did the have, open beds, they also took both Medicare and Medicaid. My Daughter also call and verified this. Not only this Ignite Medical Resort Adams Parc's home page on the Ignite Medical Resort website says they take Medicaid. NOTE: The home pages of the individual Ignite home pages varies; Some (like the Oklahoma City one) don't say they take Medicaid, and while others say they do. When I was transferred and admitted I ask if they need my Medicare, Medicare Advantage provider's, as well as my Sooner Care(Medicaid) cards. The said no as the Claremore Hospital, Sent copies of everything before they agreed to admit me. I was there from the last few days in January, though out February, until March 4th when I was sent home. In May I started to get bills from them, I as confused, as for the last 18 years while I have been on both Medicare and Medicare, I never have received a single Bill from any provider or institution. So I called and talked to Melody. She said that while they were paid by my Medicare Advantage Provider, I still had to pay the co-payment. I explained that was what the Medicaid was for. She then said their policy was not to file Medicaid if the patient has a Medicare Provider. I explained to her that is not how it works: While Medicaid may decide they have already been paid the max allowed, they still need to file for medicaid to rule how much if any co-pay I may have to pay. Note: the max Co-payment under this State's Medicaid is $1.00 per day. Which most provider don't bother with. So she need to file or write off the co-payment. There was a lot of back and forth between me her and the director of the facility, but they finally took down my Soon Care(Medicaid number again. However in June I received another bill from them, so this time I filed a complaint with the Stated Healthcare Authority. Then in July one more bill so this time I contacted my State Senator and we both worked with the Provider Relation Education department of the Healthcare Authority, about this. They tried all month of July and August to get a hold of Melody but she kept ducking their calls. After I got another bill in August I file a complaint with the Center Of Medicare/Medicaid Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services . When September came around I got another bill with a very nasty note from Melody saying I better come up with a payment plain, as Ignite Medical Resort Adams Parc does not take Medicaid. So I check their home page again the at the bottom plain as day it still says they take medicaid. So I am again I contact with my State Senator's office again as will filled a Covid fraud, complaint with the Consumer Complaint dept of the State's Attorney General's office. The bottom line is: 1. They represented that the took Medicaid, 2. I don't have $2,750.00+ to pay as I am way under the poverty live 3. If I had the money to pay there were a lot of beds a hell of a lot closer to home I could have gone to, instead of an hour and a half away.
