Reviews
Not a Good Place for Diabetics Shortly after my wife checked into Heritage, we were asked if we were ready for dinner. We replied that we had just eaten and asked if we could eat later. The worker said sure, she would place our trays in the refrigerator. Whenever we were ready to eat, just ask for them and they’d be heated. About 9:00 PM, we told the tech what we had been promised and asked for our meals. She explained that we could not get food because the kitchen was closed and we should have eaten at dinner time. Finally, she agreed to look, then returned and said no trays had been left for us. We then asked what we were to eat. She brought peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, nothing else. Martha is diabetic and next morning her sugar level was very high. Her breakfast included toast covered in syrup and a rather large orange juice (which causes a diabetic’s sugar level to rise rapidly). When I said that breakfast was unacceptable for a diabetic whose sugar was already high from the jelly last night, the tech replaced the orange juice with apple juice (just as bad).
Took nurse half hour to get to the room after I reported mr wife’s excruciating chest pains. Nurse chewed us out for asking for ice water. We were told “corporate” sets temperature so we’d just have to freeze. I made an appointment to speak to the “administrator” about problems, he didn’t show up. Staff walked my wife without the safety belt. What a horrible place for helpless people to live out the last days of their lives.
